INGREDIENT INDEX

Protein

Whey Protein

  • Protein is a compound made up of amino acids which are known as ‘the building blocks of protein’ and are essential for the healthy functioning of the human body
  • Whey Protein is a naturally produced protein that is a by-product of cheese production
  • As with other forms of protein, consumption of whey protein shortly after vigorous exercise can boost muscle growth and repair
  • All of our whey protein is naturally sourced from grass-fed cows and is a high protein, low carb and low fat protein source

BCAAs

  • BCAA stands for Branched Chain Amino Acid - the essential three amino acids that form the building blocks of protein
  • They can be found in any food containing protein, including eggs, meat, fish or whey protein
  • The 3 BCAAs are Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine
  • Leucine plays an important role in muscle protein synthesis, while isoleucine induces glucose uptake into cells.
  • These amino acids make up 35% of muscular tissue and play key role in protein synthesis which is important for muscular growth and repair
  • So making sure you are getting enough BCAAs is important, especially if you are exercising heavily
  • They are also useful during periods of fasting as they prevent your body from using muscle as a fuel source
  • All of our protein and energise products have a high BCAA profile to make sure you can get what you need before, during and after exercise

Energise

Caffeine

  • Naturally occurring in coffee beans and tea, caffeine is classed as a stimulant due to its ability to suppress feelings of drowsiness and tiredness
  • It has also been shown in some studies to speed up metabolism and aid fat burning
  • It is classified as a nootropic because it provides mental stimulation
  • Habitual caffeine use leads to increased tolerance so to gain performance benefits it is best used in moderation, ideally around 30 minutes before exercise
  • Our Pre-Energiser contains 200mg of caffeine to give you a lift before you lift

Citrulline

  • Citrulline is an amino acid that is naturally occurring within the body
  • Citrulline has been shown to improve nitric oxide production which causes blood vessel size to increase
  • This has been shown to improve athletic performance by reducing levels of fatigue both during and after exercise, allowing increased tolerance to training volume and intensity
  • Citrulline is an active ingredient in our Pre-Energiser for this very reason

Arginine

  • Arginine is an amino acid that is naturally occurring within the body
  • It is a precursor for nitric oxide production, so has a similar but more immediate effect to citrulline
  • When nitric oxide is released into the blood quickly it enables more efficient blood flow and which helps remove metabolic waste and deliver nutrients
  • Arginine also works in tandem with citrulline to help decrease levels of fatigue during and after exercise

Beta-Alanine

  • Beta-Alanine is an amino acid that has been shown to increase muscle carnosine levels which prevents the build-up of lactic acid in your muscles
  • Reducing lactic acid build up allows for greater endurance and efficiency of muscular contractions
  • This can lead to the ability to tolerate a higher volume of anaerobic exercise which in turn can lead to better physiological adaptations
  • We include 2g of Beta-Alanine in our Pre-Energiser
  • Beta-Alanine can be further supplemented with Beta-Boost, with 4g per day the recommended total dosage, spread across 4x 1g servings (or 2 if taking alongside our pre-workout)

Electrolytes (Potassium, Sodium and Chloride)

  • Electrolytes are naturally occurring substances found in a number of food and drink sources
  • They help to maintain whole body hydration by replacing minerals and salts lost through perspiration
  • As small a drop in hydration of as little as 2% can cause a massive reduction in performance
  • All of these electrolytes are included in our Workout Energiser so can stay hydrated while you train and perform at your best

Boost

Maltodextrin

  • Maltodextrin is a carbohydrate source that is easily digestible so can be quickly used by your muscles
  • This means that muscle glycogen levels can be rapidly replenished allowing for fast energy supply
  • Maltodextrin is the carbohydrate we use in our Carbo-Boost and can be added to any of our products to give your muscles that extra glycogen boost

Creatine Monohydrate

  • Creatine Monohydrate is a form of creatine, a naturally produced substance found in the body
  • Substantial research has been made into Creatine and its ability to improve athletic performance, with results showing increased energy production allowing your muscles to contract with more power
  • This allows greater strength, power and lean mass gains to be made as a result
  • Some studies have also shown creatine to have neuro-protective effects
  • Creatine can either be taken as part of a cycle, with a weeks loading phase consisting of 4x 5g servings each day
  • This should be followed by 1x 5g serving for a 6 to 8 week period to gain the maximum benefit
  • If you’re not taking creatine as part of cycle, just add 1x 5g serving mixed with 250ml of water or with your protein shake within 30 minutes of exercise.

  • Vitamin D is one of the 24 micronutrients critical for human survival
  • Naturally occurring from the sun and also fish and eggs
  • Maintain a good level of vitamin D intake is essential for maintenance of healthy hormone levels and has also been shown to have benefits of to the brain, immune system and bones

Vitamin E

  • Vitamin E is actually a term used to refer to 8 different molecules
  • Vitamin E’s benefit mainly come from helping to improve immune system function and is an antioxidant compound

Mind Support

Nootropic

  • Nootrpoics are substances that can have effects beneficial cognitive function
  • Many are naturally occurring from plants and herbs
  • Can be used to improve memory, general mental wellbeing and ability to concentrate
  • Some nootropics also improve the performance of receptors and transmitter substances in your brain allowing for increased efficiency
  • Some nootropics also have neuroprotective qualities and are powerful antioxidants

Guarana

  • This is a natural stimulant taken from the seeds of the guarana tree. It contains caffeine allowing an increase in mental stimulation by suppressing the neurotransmitter adenosine, preventing feelings of tiredness and stimulating the nervous system. This causes a reduction in perceived physical and mental exertion.

Rhodiola Rosea

  • Rhodiola Rosea is a herb which is used as an anti-fatigue agent as it can significantly reduce the effects of prolonged and minor physical exhaustion as well as reducing stress levels. This can lead to improved cognitive function due to the reduction in fatigue and stress levels. Rhodiola Rosea may also have neuroprotective qualities against toxins however this requires more evidence.

Bacopa Monnieri

  • Similarly to Rhodiola Rosea, Bacopa Monieri is a herb that has been shown to improve cognition by reducing anxiety levels. It has also been shown as being reliable for improving memory formation. The main mechanism that it works is by encouraging the growth of nerve endings allowing faster communication of the nervous system. Bacopa Monnieri is also an antioxidant.

CDP-choline

  • CDP-choline (citicholine) is a nootropic compound that converts to both choline and cytidine which can increase the amount of acetylcholine, which is the main neurotransmitter associated with learning, potentially allowing for greater capacity to learn by enhancing attention and memory function. Choline can be found in a number of foods including eggs and steak.
