BCAAS

  • BCAA stands for Branched Chain Amino Acid - the essential three amino acids that form the building blocks of protein
  • They can be found in any food containing protein, including eggs, meat, fish or whey protein
  • The 3 BCAAs are Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine
  • Leucine plays an important role in muscle protein synthesis, while isoleucine induces glucose uptake into cells.
  • These amino acids make up 35% of muscular tissue and play key role in protein synthesis which is important for muscular growth and repair
  • So making sure you are getting enough BCAAs is important, especially if you are exercising heavily
  • They are also useful during periods of fasting as they prevent your body from using muscle as a fuel source
  • All of our protein and energise products have a high BCAA profile to make sure you can get what you need before, during and after exercise

CAFFEINE

  • Naturally occurring in coffee beans and tea, caffeine is classed as a stimulant due to its ability to suppress feelings of drowsiness and tiredness
  • It has also been shown in some studies to speed up metabolism and aid fat burning
  • It is classified as a nootropic because it provides mental stimulation
  • Habitual caffeine use leads to increased tolerance so to gain performance benefits it is best used in moderation, ideally around 30 minutes before exercise
  • Our Pre-Energiser contains 200mg of caffeine to give you a lift before you lift

CITRULLINE

  • Citrulline is an amino acid that is naturally occurring within the body
  • Citrulline has been shown to improve nitric oxide production which causes blood vessel size to increase
  • This has been shown to improve athletic performance by reducing levels of fatigue both during and after exercise, allowing increased tolerance to training volume and intensity
  • Citrulline is an active ingredient in our Pre-Energiser for this very reason

ARGININE

  • Arginine is an amino acid that is naturally occurring within the body
  • It is a precursor for nitric oxide production, so has a similar but more immediate effect to citrulline
  • When nitric oxide is released into the blood quickly it enables more efficient blood flow and which helps remove metabolic waste and deliver nutrients
  • Arginine also works in tandem with citrulline to help decrease levels of fatigue during and after exercise

BETA-ALANINE

  • Beta-Alanine is an amino acid that has been shown to increase muscle carnosine levels which prevents the build-up of lactic acid in your muscles
  • Reducing lactic acid build up allows for greater endurance and efficiency of muscular contractions
  • This can lead to the ability to tolerate a higher volume of anaerobic exercise which in turn can lead to better physiological adaptations
  • We include 2g of Beta-Alanine in our Pre-Energiser
  • Beta-Alanine can be further supplemented with Beta-Boost, with 4g per day the recommended total dosage, spread across 4x 1g servings (or 2 if taking alongside our pre-workout)

ELECTROLYTES (POTASSIUM, SODIUM AND CHLORIDE)

  • Electrolytes are naturally occurring substances found in a number of food and drink sources
  • They help to maintain whole body hydration by replacing minerals and salts lost through perspiration
  • As small a drop in hydration of as little as 2% can cause a massive reduction in performance
  • All of these electrolytes are included in our Workout Energiser so can stay hydrated while you train and perform at your best
